Copperfield’s rose: who was the real inventor? A rose floating in mid-air, hovering in front of an entire theatre. David Copperfield still performs it today, but the idea came to another magician, back in 1991. Kevin James has created effects that are now part of the repertoire of many magicians around the world, Copperfield included. And on Broadway, in the cast of The Illusionists, his character is named exactly that: The Inventor.
