9-11/9/2021, London (GB), 9th EUROPEAN MAGIC HISTORY CONFERENCE 🗓 🗺

-> 9th EMHC – POSTPONED!

From EUROPEAN MAGIC HISTORY CONFERENCE Newsletter

My Dear Friends,

Who would have believed that our world would be in such a state when we departed from Vienna last year and I do sincerely hope that you are all well and bearing up under the circumstances. I’m sure many of you will, like me, be using the enforced confinement to pursue lines of research that one never previously found the time to do.

Of course we have no idea how long this state of emergency will last but I am determined that it will not – if at all possible – spoil what is one of the most interesting and enjoyable events in a magic historian and collectors calendar of events.

For the programme of the next European Magic History and Collectors Conference (EMHC)Marco Pusterla and I have worked for some years now on ensuring that our London gathering will be one to remember.  The venue will be the headquarters of The Magic Circle where a private exhibition of some of their treasures will be on view.  With value for money our priority the registration fee will cover the cost of all evening meals for the three nights so that we can ensure that every evening will be one to remember.

As mentioned in Vienna, we have a special treat on Thursday with a private viewing at the famous V&A Museum with an exhibition of rare 19th century posters plus some additional magical items from their collections.  Most of these items have never been seen before.

Apart from a full lecture programme there will be three superb shows with the highlight being a special gala at the famous Brick Lane Music Hall with a full evening show of classic magic including a special illusion show by the internationally famous magician Andrew Van Buren.

For enthusiasts, two extra events have been organised which are additional to the registration.  On Sunday 12th September we have arranged a special event at Covent Garden followed by lunch at a famous artists restaurant in Drury Lane.  Then, something completely new for the EMHC, a Monday event.  There is a whole day tour of the British Magic Museum in Norfolk, transport, meals a magic show and a private viewing of the museum’s historic collection of magical ephemera will be arranged if enough registrants show interest. More details of these extra events will be forthcoming.

However, it would be helpful if you could indicate as early as possible if you are interested in attending either or both of these events.  Costs are indicated in the Registration Form.

I will sign off now and look forward to having your registrations in due course.  There are still slots available for 25 minute lectures and, if you are interested, please let me know as soon as possible if you have one you would like to give.  A precis of the content is required.
I look forward to hearing from you and in the meantime keep safe.
Best wishes,

Fergus Roy
